Grassmere
Grassmere is a spacious, double fronted house situated some seven miles east of Birmingham City Centre and on the main bus route. Within a short walk of local shops
and next to a church.

Facilities at Grassmere

Grassmere has 26 single bedrooms, all fitted with their own wash basins and power points. Most have their own en-suite facilities. All are fitted with Smoke Detectors and an Assistance Call System, which ensures that staff are available to provide help to residents at all times during the day and night. The upper floor is served by two, five person passenger lifts.

For fully mobile residents the staircases and corridors are wide and fitted with rails, which enable residents to get from place to place quite easily.

Arrangements can be made for rooms to be fitted with private telephone if so desired and residents can also have their own TV or radio installed. Residents are encouraged to bring personal effects to add to the homely atmosphere.

Public Rooms
The Home has a Large ‘L’ shaped lounge with many pleasant, comfortable areas for residents to sit and chat, take part in social activities, do handicrafts, play games or just relax. There is a piano, which residents can play which is often used at social gatherings. There are two separate areas where residents can sit and enjoy television.

The large, airy dining area is traditionally furnished with plenty of space for normal meals or parties.

Meals and Diets

Grassmere prides itself on providing residents with a well balanced diet of freshly prepared, home cooked meals. The menus are varied and special diets catered for.

Meals are served at regular times but on request, residents can eat in their rooms alone or with visitors. Snacks, teas and coffees are available at any time of the day and night.

Social Activites

Residents are encouraged to persue their own personal interests and hobbies. Various games, musical events and social activities are organised to places of interest and relatives and friends are welcome to take part. By arrangement, members of staff will accompany residents on walks to the shops and other personal outings.

Religion and Equal Opportunities

The Home is non-denominational, but the local clergy visit our residents. If preferred, arrangements are made to attend local places of worship. There is a policy of Equal Opportunity where people of all races and creeds are made welcome and have the freedom to practice their own cultures.

Visitors

Families and friends are welcome to visit Grassmere at all times particularly in the afternoons and evenings. They can join other guests in the public areas or enjoy the privacy of their own room.
